DIRECTIONS

Talampaya National Park is part of a magical desert, at the heart of the north-western area of La Rioja Province, in Argentina. It has an area of 215,000 hectares, including the Departments of General Lavalle, Independencia and General Felipe Varela.

Access to the park is by National Routes 150 and 76. Travelling west from Patquia to Villa Unión, both roads cross a semi-desert covered in woods of chañar (regional tree species) and algarrobo (carob tree).

The entrance to Talampaya Canyon is located on Km 144, where our complex, “Parador Turístico” (tourist stop), was established on March 1, 2006. This is a newly built facility that welcomes our guests with the comfort they need to enjoy their holidays in the wilderness.

The complex includes a restaurant, toilets, National Park Administration offices, business offices, a camping ground and a multiple-use room where Park-related activities are held.

This is the starting point for all our guided tours along the trails authorized by Argentine National Park authorities. Our new fleet of vehicles and our expert local guides make sure all your needs are catered for during these tours.

The closest town to the Canyon is Villa Unión, located about 55 Kms away. Also, further away on National Route No. 40, past Nonogasta and Sañogasta (nearby towns), you may visit Chilecito and the amazing Cuesta de Miranda.
